Melbourne Prize For Music 2007

The picture of the sound of music. The Melbourne Prize for Music is one of the biggest of its type in the world and provides cash awards for innovation and originality in music. With entrants covering a broad range of music genres from classical through to jazz, garage band and heavy metal, the Prize is open to practicing musicians across the State of Victoria. The public exhibition was hosted at Federation Square and provided a series of logistical challenges.

The brief called for an exhibit that represented the ‘picture of the sound of music’. An exhibit that expressed the emotion, aura and diversity of music and its impact on people, and how it has no boundaries across age, social standing and/or class. Each object housed a sample of the entrants' music, which patrons could interact with, listening to each of the ten finalists for Melbourne’s richest art prize.
